As soon as the pandemic impact to the US and its National Defense community was announced in late January 2020, we deep-dived immediately into understanding the roots of Cov-19 - what had China done, what had China discovered that we all could leverage? - and one of its biggest mysteries: "Natural Immunity."
Because we approached Cov-19 from a traditional engineering or scientific standpoint: no assumptions, no holds barred in what was going on and how to tackle the virus, we fell into a different vaccine and treatment path than most of the rest of our world's biotech community. Our vaccine and treatment development does NOT rely on one or more antibodies, but blocks the virus before that stage.
We did not know when we started WHAT we and others would discover months later -- that Cov-19 antibodies are fleeting in efficacy and only effective for some 40-45% of all patients - we just knew that HOW we (the world) set about discovering and designing a cure needed to be change, for this virus.
Survival is a team effort. And this pandemic is the same. But what is key to our mutual survival is that we NOT LIMIT OURSELVES. Reaching for the familiar in the face of emergency or a terrifying unknown is a natural response. But it does not always work.
Reaching instinctively for an antibody and focusing efforts on that solution path, may provide temporary fleeting relief for some patients, but it is not the right final solution. We know this - we have proven this, logically - because the same antibodies our leading biotech firms are so urgently testing and moving into production as 'the vaccine' against Cov-19, are not found in the blood of many or most of those who do not have Cov-19. This is a worldwide fact. Therefore that is the wrong solution path.
The right solution path - per logic, per scientific investigation and reverse engineering, which is how we design and build rockets, space ships, and systems of infinite complexity - is to discover (which we think we have) what IS in the blood or systems of those who do not catch Cov-19 or display symptoms, and replicate THAT.
We must take a different approach. We must change horses mid-stream.
